Introduction to Music


There are many different websites that allows you to listen to music whether or not you have a radio. Some of the sites include: Youtube, Soundcloud, and also Pandora. There are also different genres of music such as gospel, opera, R&B, country, instrumental, Rock and Roll, and Rap. Music has improved by using different beats, tempos, and also word choices. For example, artists such as Queen Latifah rapped about what was going on in life when she first started out. Now many people may talk about the things that they wish they had or maybe even their relationships.
I. Gospel
Gospel is mostly listened to by spiritually people regardless of their domination of choice. Two different types of gospel music is contemporary and southern gospel. Contemporary gospel is more upbeat gospel music that is listened to frequently today. Gospel music is music that is used to express feelings toward Christian life between many different Christians. Christian music is mostly played on Sunday's if not other days of the week.

Opera can be compared to musicals. They involve men and women, but their voices are highly trained to be loud and strong in big rooms. Opera started in the sixteenth century in Italy. In opera people wear dramatic costumes to project the bodies, acting to perform the music.

III. R&B
R&B singers can be singers from different time periods such as Aretha Franklin in the 70s to Usher from the 20th century. The letter R&B stands for rhythm and blues. Other famous people from this time is James Brown, Aaliyah, and Whitney Houston. R&B is for people who go though life and learn lessons. They tell stories through their music whether the songs are good or bad. Two different types of R&B is Urban R&B and Soul R&B.

V. Instrumental
Instrumental music is my favorite type of music because I was in the band. Instrumental music in my opinion leaves room for relaxation. Instrumental music is music that has not lyrics or singing in it. Instrumentals are used by people going into the music industry to get their start and sometimes in classrooms to help motivate students. Instrumentals can be beats or instrumentation from an actual album.
